Terms and Conditions of Dog Fostering

These terms and conditions outline responsibilities incumbent on the part of Sadies Dog Rescue & any fosterer during any period when our dog is in the fosterer’s care.  

  1. I understand that during the period of fostering, the dog shall remain the legal property of Sadies Dog Rescue. The fosterer cannot, under any circumstances, rehome the dog without the written express authority of a representative of SDR. 
  1. I, the fosterer I agree that I have considered all responsibilities of fostering and agree to cover such costs as to the dog every day care, including feeding, bedding and grooming. I understand the welfare needs of a pet and have the time and capacity to ensure that appropriate exercise and training is giving  
  1. I understand that, unless in an extreme emergency, SDR must be contacted prior to any veterinary consultation and/or treatment. SDR agree to cover veterinary expenses for the foster dog for the duration of the foster period only where prior authorisation has been sought.   I understand that it is my responsibility to provide the rescue with evidence of access to a Brucella Canis Friendly’ vet, as explained in the document ‘Brucella Canis Information for Adopters and Fosterers‘ , in order to safeguard the dog’s wellbeing.
  1. I agree and understand that whilst SDR gives as much information as possible, they do not always have a complete history of the dog and cannot therefore guarantee temperament/behaviour or health of a dog. Any information concerning the habits and past history of the dog is passed on by the SDR in good faith. The information we provide you may be based on statements made by a previous owner or by a trainer/behaviourist and/or observations of the animal whilst in our care. We cannot guarantee that this information is correct despite making every effort being made. 
  1. I am aware of all the requirements of UK law relating to dogs and I understand that whilst in my care I am responsible for keeping the dog under proper control and accept responsibility for the animal and its actions. I am aware that animals can occasionally cause damage and agree that SDR are not responsible for any actions of the animal once it is in my care. I understand that will be required to take out recommended third party liability cover in case of such damage, which SDR can contribute to the cost of. 
  1. I agree to support the adoption process for any dog in my care by providing regular assessments and photograph of his/her progress. I agree to allow potential adopters to meet the dog at mutually arranged times/locations.  
  1. I will ensure the dog has the fosterer’s name and address on collar or disc attached thereto and I will notify the local authority, police and SDR immediately should the dog become lost or missing. 
  1. I confirm that I am over 18 years of age.
